How long will it take to put an E Commerce system in place?
That depends on exactly how many products you have, the availability of the information about those products in digital format (pictures, video, specifications, original product descriptions, etc), and the amount of customization needed to fit individual business needs.
As you can probably guess from the paragraph above, if don’t have this information in digital format, then it will take a lot longer to get your online store front up and running. Taking pictures, shooting and editing video, creating spec charts, and writing original product descriptions are all very labor intensive tasks that should not be taken lightly. This will be the meat and potatoes portion of your website that will help your website visitors make a purchasing decision. This information needs to be complete, accurate, and visually appealing.
The How Long Answer? Usually E commerce projects that are 300 products or less with all product data already in digital format are usually completed in 2 to 4 months.
For projects that need this information digitized (photos, video, product description, specs, etc.) we have had projects range anywhere from 3 to 12 months depending on the amount of products and data that is being created.
